Write with Me
In this place, you are invited to join me as we write about creativity, writing, and also play with some writing prompts. A Writer’s Place is a place to meander.
meander –– (v) to follow an intricate or winding course, to wander aimlessly without urgency of destination, to ramble. (n) a winding path or course, especially as in a labyrinth.
In Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way, one of the few requirements for artistic “recovery” is writing for a prescribed amount of time on a daily basis. Free writing, journaling, pure writing – they’re all names to describe the same process – writing and writing until the cognitive mind steps aside and the deep unconscious has an opportunity to come forward and speak. No matter what form your creative expression takes, writing is a great jump-start for the flow of ideas and for overcoming any blocks you may be experiencing.
“What is yet untried and afterward if for you and me and all.
I do not know what is untried and afterward,
but I know it is sure and alive and sufficient.”
– Walt Whitman
Pure writing, not writing a poem, or a short story or novel, but pure writing is about allowing our authentic voice to shine through. Pure writing most frequently shows up when we journal, or when we blog, because we’re not so concerned then about what we should or ought to be saying but rather we are focusing on what our deep authentic self has to say. Blogging can be a great way to allow time and space for this pure writing to emerge. And it’s enjoyable! Jump into the blog and let yourself go! Or, if you prefer, submit some of your work for posting on the website.
Allow yourself to ramble a bit, for in your ramblings you may shape a new journey for yourself, or even find yourself back on a long forgotten path. Feel free to meander and find what it is you seek most.
